If you really wanted to DIY it, just avoid the strings because they’re really dangerous and might cause serious injuries. I remembered DIYing the track and motor without working with the springs. If you really wanted to work with the springs, just call a pro for that scary thing 😩

Been there brother! Water heater over 10 years old and an unexpected leak is a headache! The good thing was I caught it early before making a major mess. If you’re really considering replacing it, might as well do it now before catastrophe caught up! hahaha
