Kitchen Mama can opener battery swap, anything tricky to know?

wait so is vinegar ok or not? im genuinly confused now

vinegar will neutralize the alkali residue which is the point. The problem with vinegar is that if you dont rinse it off the steel parts the acetic acid in vinegar will rust the steel. Iso will neutralize the alkaline residue but will not clean the opener. The best way is to scrape the excess residue, add vinegar on a qtip to the opener, add water to rinse vinegar off, then iso to displace water, dry with a cloth.

this is so much effort for a 25 dollar can opener

mine has lasted for almost 3 years on the original duracells believe it or not. It only sees a low duty cycle of 2 cans a week at most, battery drain is essentially nothing

the tricky part for me was getting the clip on the cover to seat properly. Have to press on the back edge of the clip first then the front. Otherwise the sensor on the opener thinks the cover is open and the opener won’t run.
