Saw this list of common reasons for which a DeLonghi coffee machine stop brewing (when the machine is functioning otherwise). The six reasons that are commonly listed is beans in the hopper, the grinder itself, the infuser, the flow meter, the water pump, and the infuser motor.
The bean level and infuser cleaning are obvious and common. If the grinder is not turning the machine cannot brew the coffee, regardless of the remaining component. The flow meter and the water pump isnt as immediately obvious as to how to fix those issue. Lastly, the infuser motor is the least obvious of the listed issues.

infuser, infuser, infuser. 9 times out of 10 its just gunked up and the motor cant push it home. People throw part at it before doing a proper degrease.

On the Magnifica line I've seen flow meter issue much more than people realize. The impeller get scale on it and doesn't spin correctly. Pop it out and soak in descaler and its good.

dumb question but how do you actualy test the flow meter without ripping the whole machine apart? is there a way to see if its spinning from outside or do you basically have to pull the side panel every time

You have to get into it unfortunatly. On most Magnificas the flow meter is behind the right side panel near the tank inlet. Two screws and the panel pop and the flow meter is the little plastic housing with two wire connected to it. Pop the impeller with a toothpick and it should spin freely.

the list you saw is basically correct but the order is wrong. From experience, it's infuser, then flow meter, then the grinder (beans in grinder or burr motor cap stripped), then water pump, then actual motor failure (infuser) which is rare. Did 200 and 3 infuser motor replaced.

these machines, IMO, are not worth fixing past 5 years old, the parts cost more than the machine and Delonghi know it.

this is the correct ranking of coffee machine failure for Delonghis. People vastly overestimate the failure of the infuser motor. It looks the same as the motor failing but its usually the crud on the infuser causing the same symptom. Must clean it first.
