Saw a question on social media about resetting the DeLonghi La Specialista and thought I'd ask here in the hopes that the manual is more specific about the steps. Essentaly, you hold both Double Cup and My Recipe buttons until the display blink, then press My Recipe again to make it blink and finally press the Power button. It will reset all of the custom recipe setting for the machine.
There seems to be alot of confusion regarding the reset machine and what it does. For those who is in the know, this will not reset your grinder settings, dose settings or the water hardness. It will only reset the My Recipe profile settings back to default. The button combination is the same for both action. Have any of you tried this and confirmed what settings the machine actualy resets?

Did it on my Maestro last month and it only wipes the My Recipe profile back to default. Grinder setting, dose, water hardness all stayed exactly where I had them. So if youre hoping for a real factory reset this aint it.

wait so what actually reset the water hardness then? mine is showing the wrong setting and I cant figure out how to change it without doing the whole setup wizard again

That combo is for the My Recipe profile reset. The deeper menus that allow you to service the machine are a different combination and DeLonghi doesnt want randoms messing with their settings. Ive serviced close to 40 of these in the last year alone between the Arte, the Maestro and the Specialista. If your looking for a reset of your grinder dose memory simply hold the dose button and re-set the dose for your machine. Water hardness is under the settings menu under the gear icon so no need to reset that.

Arte use a different UI, no touchscreen-ish display like the Maestro. You change the water hardness on the Arte by holding the descale button I think? Its been a while since I last used one.

Ran the combo on both my Specialista Maestro and a friends regular Specialista.
Both behaved identically, only the My Recipe slot got wiped. Dose, grind, and temp all stayed the same. So at least between those two its consistent.

Confusion between descaling button and menu access. Completely different. The hardness is set when you power on the machine, but if you want to reenter the settings you have to unplug the machine and hold the steam button while plugging it back into power.

ok so unplug, hold steam, plug back in. Does that put me in a menu or do I have to press something else after?
