Was looking at teh troubleshooting notes for the cuisinart machines, thought it would be interesting to discuss since peoples come up with these issues all the time.
The most common issue is the paddle not turning. From reading the troubleshooting notes, this is actualy by design (the bowl turn and the paddle does not). So if the bowl is turning you're fine, if the bowl is not turning it's the motor or switch.
Next most common is the machine not freeze properly... Again, this is usually due to the bowl not being frozen properly. The spec require that it sit at -18c for at least 12 hour. People has to make the mistake of putting it in the fridge instead of the freezer, or there freezer isnt cold enough.
If the machine will not power on it's usually a faulty switch, motor/gear wear or a fuse in the plug... The notes specifically say it's an UK plug type.
Regarding disassembly, one of the bottom screws requires a U shaped screwdriver whereas the other three is standard. Not the most convenient of design, anyone encounter this issue and find a workaround?

the u shaped screw is security/tamper resistant, you can usually grind a flat screwdriver to fit or just use needle nose pliers if it's not torqued down hard. Ifixit sell a kit with the bit too for like 15 bucks.

Biggest issue with cuisinart is people not pre chilling its mix. If the bowl is at -25 but they pour in room temp custard it will turn out soupily. Must chill the base of your custard overnight then add the remaining ingredient.
Also make sure the bowl is bone dry before placing in the freezer, any moisture on the outside will turn to frost and insulate the bowl.
