Instant Pot burn message what actually triggers it?

thick sauce trick: start with water on the bottom of the pot (a full cup), then add in your protein of choice and finally the thick sauce/liquid that floats on top of the protein. Do NOT stir. When its cooked simply stir it all together at the end.

sounds like alot of work to avoid an error message tbh

the layering trick actually works but people also tend to forget about the sugar content in jar sauces. Sugar tends to char/scorch in the pot MUCH faster than homemade sauces. Check the label to see if it contains sugar (should be near the top of ingredients listed).

yes! sugar is a big factor people miss. Bbq sauce is the worst for this, chars to the bottom in 30 seconds at those temps.
